Personal Olive Tree Memoires Book Lemmel School Jerusalem Female Student 1940s with dedication and greeting for her graduation by the schoolmaster Yeshaiyahu Peres

Peres was born in Jerusalem, son of Haim Peres, a linguist from the revivors of the Hebrew language and of the builders of the city of Jerusalem, and Sarah, who was a teacher at the Girls school founded by Montefiori.

The family home in his childhood resided at the Old City of Jerusalem, at the yard of Rabbi Nachum Mashkelov on Hakri street, adjacent to Risin yard. Afterwards, he lived for most of his life at the Zikhron Moshe neighbourhood, close to the Lemmel School, which he ran for nearly 40 years. The small street in which he lived, connecting Yeshaiyahu street and Blilius street, was named after him while still alive.

He entrepreneured and established different bodies and organizations, among themm the Teachers Association (Peres served as its first chairman), the governmental names commitee, the company for the research of the Land of Israel and its antiquities, and the Jerusalem office of Beni Berith, which he ran.

Peres authored several travel-books, books about geography and topography, however his great work is the geographical-historical encyclopedia of the Land of Israel in four volumes. Moshav Givat-Yishaiyahu in Emek Ha'elah and a street in Jerusalem next to Lemmel School are named after him.

The book is filled with memoires left by female students and friends of Rivka, owner of the book.

The memoires book is made of Olive Tree, signed on its back Bezalel, Jerusalem. The back is cracked and detached, went through restoration. Measurements: 9X17 cm.
