AN ANTIQUE NEPLESE KUKRI KNIFE 19TH CEN.

Late 19th-century kukri knife with wooden scabbard and an extra small auxiliary knife. The handle is made of horn and bronze, the blade is adorned with an engraved ornament. The notch on the blade at the handle (cho) has a religious cult meaning and symbolizes the tooth of Shiva - the main attribute and symbol of the power of this god. There is also a more practical sense of cho: it prevents the formation of cracks and chipping of the blade at the handle.

Dimensions: L: 16 1/2 in.
