Utagawa Kunisada (Japanese, 1786–1864) Ukiyo-ewoodblock print on paper, No. 7 (Daishichi), from the series Record of the Valiant and Loyal Retainers. Edo period, circa 1847-1852. Signed in print, on the right side. Framed. The auction label showing detailed information about the artwork on verso. Kunisada, also known as Utagawa Toyokuni, was the most popular, prolific and commercially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan.
