ANTIQUE GERMAN MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE OF CUPID
An antique German Meissen porcelain figure on a round base, Cupid Feeding Nightingales. Circa: 1900s. Modeled by R. Holbe. The hand painted figure depicts the cupid with a lira sitting on a tree stump and feeding four young nightingales and adorned with gilding. Circa: late 19th century to the early 20th century. Marked with a Meissen underglaze blue hallmark on the bottom. Meissen, Meissen porcelain, Meissener Porzellan, products of the first manufactory in Europe, which for a long time was the leading enterprise in which real hard porcelain was made.
