ORIGINAL JAPANESE WOOD BLOCK PRINT BY IMAO KEINEN
Imao Keinen, Japanese, 1845 to 1924, antique original woodblock print on paper, Orchid and Small Swallows, Hokuri, kotsubame. From the album Keinen Gafu, album of Keinen Works, Part Spring, four part work of woodblock prints of birds and flowers in the four seasons. Circa: 1890 to 1899. Inscribed with hieroglyphs in the plate, upper and to the center left. Matted. Imao Keinen was a Japanese painter and print designer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, part of the shin hanga new prints movement. In 1904 he was appointed as an Imperial Household Artist.
