ANTIQUE PERSIAN KALAMKARI ISLAMIC CALLIGRAPHY TEXTILE
An antique Indo Persian Kalamkari linen cotton textile wall hanging. The textile is adorned with a traditional hand painted paisley ornament surrounded by medallions with Islamic calligraphy, and floral and foliage motifs on the borders. The backside is decorated with floral, foliage and paisley patterns on the red ground. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. Kalamkari or chitsazi is the Iranian art of applying designs to fabric; carried out both manually and using special printing stamps.
