Убежденный сторонник реализма. Основные темы творчества – сельские пейзажи, портреты современников, сцены из крестьянской жизни. Работал также в области иллюстрации, станкового рисунка и в анималистическом жанре. Выставлялся на выставках Союза художников СССР. Произведения художника хранятся в Государственной Третьяковской галерее, Государственном Русском музее, в Ульяновском областном художественном музее, Самарском областном художественном музее и других крупных музеях бывшего СССР. Arkady Alexandrovich Plastov was born on the 31st of January, 1893, in the family of a rural church psalm-reader Alexandr Grigoryevich Plastov and a daughter of a country doctor, coming from Russified Germans, Olga Ivanovna Leiman. He studied in the Stroganov central artistic and industrial college (1912 – 1914), in the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture, the sculpture department (1914-1917), the classes by S.М. Volnukhin. At the same time, he studied painting from А.Е. Arkhipov, А.S. Stepanov, А.М. VasnetsovMainly, he worked in Prislonikha (near the city of Simbirsk). The laureate of the Stalin prize (1946), the laureate of the Lenin prize (1966). The full member of the Academy of Arts of USSR (1947). The People’s Artist of USSR (1962) А.А. Plastov’s personal exhibitions were organized in Moscow 1976, 1983, 1993, 2003 and in Sofia 1964. He was also exhibited in the Union of artists of USSR. The artist’s creations are kept in the Tretyakov State Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in the Regional artistic museum of Ulianovsk, the Samara regional artistic museum and in many other major museums of former USSR
