"Shevyti" plaque - cameo - "To the credit of Rabbi Hanania HaCohen", Morocco, early 20th century, ink and color on paper.
A "shvit" board that is also used as a talisman to guard and protect the baby and the mother. In the center is a lamp "for the conductor", above it are the Tablets of the Covenant. In the right and left columns are two additional lamps, from the verses "Shir Lama'at Asha Eini..." and "Anna Bakhch", and above them palms (hamsots) with verses of protection and blessing. At the bottom of the columns are texts for the protection of the baby and the mother, with remnants of (very faded) illustrations of the angels Sanoy, Sensanoy and Smangalf. Remains of colorful illustrations of decorated windows and arches, with Kabbalistic initials and combinations of letters. The frame consists entirely of angelic names. Dedication inscription: "This is the menorah. I made it for the merit of Rabbi Hanania the priest" (a tzaddik learned in miracles, rabbi in the city of Marrakesh).
43x33 cm. Average condition. Several holes. Stains. Many decorations are very faded or almost completely erased. Presented in the frame. Not examined outside the frame.
