75th Anniv Royal British Legion Signed 3 Victoria Cross and 3 George Cross Holders. 1 Jul 76 - l. O. M. 75th Anniversary of the Royal British Legion Black Flown cachet Flown in Lancaster from RAF Coningsby. Personally signed. Second Lieutenant (later Captain ) Richard Wallace Annand VC. 2nd Bn The Durham Light Infantry. Awarded the Victoria Cross on 15th May 1940 near River Dyle, Belgium. Captain R W Annand VC with hand grenades, 2nd Lieut Annand inflicted heavy casualties on a German force. When the position became hopeless, and acting on orders he manoeuvred the withdrawal of his platoon. Discovering his batman was wounded, searched for him and brought him to safety in a wheelbarrow. Patrick Kenneally VC Victory Cross Holder for gallantry in Tunisia between 28th / 30th April 1943. Lieutenant Colonel E. C. T. Wilson VC Holder. The East Surry regiment ( attached Somaliland Camel Corps)Awarded the Victoria Cross for most conspicuous gallantry on active service in defence of the Tug Argan Gap in British Somaliland. Anthony John Gledhill George Cross Holder, He was serving as a constable in the Metropolitan Police Force at the time. His partner, Constable Terry McFall, won the George Cross for the same action. They were on patrol when they were ordered to chase a car driving the wrong way down a one way street. Fifteen shots were fired at their police car during the ensuing chase. The criminals' car crashed into a lorry and they attacked the police officers, who were trying to arrest them. Both police officers were injured in the confrontation but managed to subdue the men until assistance arrived. Frank Naughton GC Won George Cross 5th August 1936 with 10th Light Tank Coy, Royal Tank Corps were engaged in recovering an armoured car which had broken down on the Irish Bridge over flooded River Indrayani, near Moshi when they were swept off the bridge into the water below, Fully clothed except his boots dived off the bridge to render assistance succeeded in bringing the man ashore about 100 yards downstream.
