Rare set of surgical instruments in golden inlay, 16th century. Probably Diego de Chaias - Item details Description Very rare set of surgical instruments in golden inlay, 16th century. Probably work by of the Spanish-born swordsmith and damascener Diego de Çaias. The set consists of a saw and two knives. The saw, made of iron, is covered with gold inlay in the style of Diego de Çaias. The saw handle is made of bone and decorated with engraving. The knives are made of iron and decorated with magnificent gold inlay. Such items could be a gift for the court physician of one of the European Monarchs. A Royal Swordsmith and Damascener Diego de Çaias, worked for the French court from 1535 to 1542 and then he was employed by Henry VIII between 1543 and 1547. The works of Diego de Çaias are in the most famous museums in the world. Unique 16th century artifacts for collecting. The length of the saw is 31 cm.
