Harriette G. Miller (1892-1971) American
Harriette G. Miller (1892-1971) Oil on canvas, signed lower left, measures (19.75 x 25.5) and (28.25 x 35) inches w/ frame. Miller was born in Cleveland and attended the Cleveland School of Art. She then studied in New York with urban realist painter Jerome Myers followed by time in Paris studying with Charles Alexandre Picart-Le-Doux. Miller's first husband was Harry Payne Bingham, a New York financier and philanthropist, and Vice President of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They divorced in 1925, and she married George Harlan Miller, a diplomat stationed in Paris in 1926. They moved to "Whimsy Farm" in Arlington, Vermont, where Miller became active in the local arts scene and was a founding member of the Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, Vermont
