Olympia 1936 - Album no.1 and Album no. 2 - complete

Two complete albums - DAND 1 and BAND 2 which were released during the 1936 Olympics which took place in Nazi Germany. Published by HAMBURG-BAHRENFELD CIGARETTE-PICTURE SERVICE. In the albums, 'cards' in color, and in black and white of dozens of photographs from the most famous Olympics of the 20th century, which came out in packs during the Olympics, documenting the athletics and sports competitions for their various branches which took place there, and the Nazi propaganda that accompanied it. Both volumes have the rare Dust Jacket (those Dust Jacket are missing in most known copies) and contains huge panoramic photographs of Berlin Stadium and the crowds.

The 11th Olympics, held in Berlin, the capital of Nazi Germany, under dictatorial rule during its heyday, is one of the most historically memorable Olympics of the 20th century. The Nazi propaganda system, headed by Josef Goebbels, Germany's propaganda minister, used it to raise German morale. This Olympia to this day considered an example of the success of Nazi propaganda. Goebbels and director Lenny Riefenstahl (directed by photographer Hans Artel) produced the two-part film "Olympia" (about two years after Rifenstahl's produced the film "Victory of the Will"), which presents the Olympics in the light of Nazi propaganda, using fascist aesthetics. Presented by Riefenstahl, as well as raising the values of "race" and "folk." This was done through various visual motifs whose purpose was to present the perfect physiology of the Aryan race through artistic photographs of Greek athletes. In order to misrepresent the regime's tolerance to the outside world, the Nazis during the Olympics avoided harming people of the "inferior" race (Jews, blacks, etc.), and all signs against the Jews were removed. however, after the Olympics there were claims that the players were discriminated against because of their origin. The Jews, including the Eretz Israel community, boycotted the Olympics and organized alternative Olympic games, in which non-Jewish athletes also participated. Among the 'cards' that appear on the album are rare photos of the American athlete, one of the greatest athletes of all time - "Jesse" Owens who participated in it and won 4 gold medals. Owens is the first athlete in history to win four gold medals in a single Olympics and the first long jumper to jump over 8 meters (8.13 meters), a world record that he held for 25 years.

Two complete albums with all the cards that came out in both series. At the end of the first part is a colorful folded map of the different areas in the stadium. Hardcover with original Dust Jacket. Slight stains and tears in the Dust Jacket. general condition very good.
