Rare WWII German propaganda photobook 'Das Reich Adolf Hitlers - Ein Bildbuch vom Werden Grossdeutschlands 1933 - 1940' ('Adolf Hitler's Reich. Photobook about the Development of Germany 1933 to 1940') published in 1940 by Baldur von Schirach, youth leader and head of the Hitler Youth from 1931 to 1940. Zentralverlag der NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachf., Munich, unpaged, ca. 140 pages, 7.75 x 10.5 inches, complete with rare original dust jacket in color. The book was conceived as a Christmas gift for the German youth. It is fully illustrated, conveying the major German achievements and historical events from 1933 through 1940. This includes the creation of the Reich Labor Front, which eliminated unemployment, the four-year plan that made Germany independent in almost all raw materials and led the world in scientific endeavors, the Anschluss of Austria, meeting with Mussolini, the building of the Westwall, the annexation of the Sudetenland, Hitler 50th birthday, the non-aggression pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, and the events that led to the invasion of Poland and France. Each photograph is accompanied by a euphoric caption.
