Letters written by a Viennese Jew, from Cyprus and Africa 1941-1947, including letters from a British detention camp Cyprus 1941 !!! - The letters are in German except for one in English. The man - Erwin Shapira, came to Cyprus in the early 1940s and stayed there for about a year in the Internment Camp. He then came to Israel for a number of months, and from there set out with his wife and daughter via Egypt to Tanganyika from 1941-1947, apparently as part of British rule. The last letters from 1947, are again from Cyprus. We were unable to found any information about a British detention camp in Cyprus in 1941! 33 letters, 18 small photographs of Shapira and his family from different periods, and a number of other paper items. Very good condition.
