A GEORGES POGEDAIEFF ILLUSTRATION FOR DEAD SOULS
Georges Anatolievich Pogedaieff (Russian, French, 1899-1971), one of the series of 12 artworks, charcoal, and crayon on paper illustration for Nikolai Gogol's "Dead Souls" depicting Chichikov with Manilov and Korobochka. Signed lower left: "Georges A. de Pogedaieff."
Executed in Germany-occupied Paris in the 1940s.
Inscribed on the back. Matted and framed.
Provenance: Sotheby's, New York, 2012.
Dimensions: 11 x 8 in., (28 x 20.3 cm.)
