A RUSSIAN KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD ORTHODOX ICON, C. 1800 - Early 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of the Mother of God of Kazan. Tempera on wood with raised border (Kovcheg). Finely painted in the traditional style. The Mother of God is depicted with her head bowed to the Child. The Christ Child is shown from the front, the right hand is extended in a blessing gesture with two fingers. Dimensions: 15 3/4 x 13 3/8 in., (40 x 34 cm.)
