A FRENCH BRONZE FIGURE OF A FALCONER BY PIERRE JULES MENE
Fine patinated bronze figure of a Berber and his hunting falcon with a hare on its feet by Pierre Jules Mene (French, 1810 – 1877). Signed: 'P.J. MENE' on a round base.Note: Pierre Jules Mene was a prolific animal sculptor of his time. His father, a successful metal turner taught Pierre to work with metals and the principles of casting, at a young age. Mene had established the first of his many foundries in 1837, where he would cast all of his own bronzes throughout his successful career.
Dimensions: H: 20 in., (56 cm.)
Condition: Very good with a nice bronze patina.
