A PAIR OF MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURES, 20TH CENTURY
A pair of Meissen porcelain figures after designs by Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775). The first figure 'Gardener Child with Vegetable Basket' depicts a girl standing on a rocaille-decorated pedestal holding a basket of various vegetables. The second figure 'Little Gardener with Basket' depicts a girl in a dress with flowers in a basket and her pinafore. Underglaze blue crossed swords mark on the undersides.
