Note: Lazar Markovitch Lissitzky (1890-1941) was a Russian and Soviet multidisciplinary artist of Jewish origin. He was an iconic figure of the Russian avant garde, architect, artist, designer, the first Russian graphic designer, photomontage master, and engineer.
Yoel Engel (1868-1927) was known as the founding father of the renaissance of Jewish music. As a composer and teacher, Engel encouraged a generation of Jewish classical musicians to rediscover their culture and create a new style of nationalist Jewish music modelled after the national music movements of Russia, Hungary and Romania.
