A MARC CHAGALL PRINT FROM THE 'LE FONTAINE FABLES' SERIES
This print is part of a hundred-print album titled "LE FONTAINE FABLES" by Marc Chagall. This series was originally made on plain paper and rice paper (an edition of forty albums). The print presented here for sale is a rare version of the original album.
Circa 1927-1930.
Provenance: A New York City private collection.
Marc Chagall (1887 - 1985) was a Russian and French artist of a devout Jewish family. In 1907 Chagall entered the famous Art School in St. Petersburg while working as a sign painter. Throughout his works, there is a foundation of Russian artistic techniques. In 1910 Chagall was in Paris and became influenced by the Cubist period of art. Chagall is world-renowned and one of the masters of color. The whole world was his canvas and he filled it with color.
