Cast and embossed with a continuous scene depicting a bearded warrior in a helmet standing before the walls of a fortress with spruce trees and a towered gate, symbolizing the defense of the Motherland ("Zastava" meaning "Outpost"). The crenellated rim and angular handle are enriched with stylized foliate ornament.
Hallmarks: "LE", (Cyrillic) letters, marked "3".
This patriotic tea glass holder, known as “Zastava, ” represents one of the popular historicist motifs in late Imperial Russian domestic metalwork. It draws from epic imagery of Slavic bogatyrs guarding fortress gates, an enduring symbol of national resilience and heroism.
