A RUSSIAN SILVER GLASSHOLDER, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1890–1908

Of cylindrical form with an openwork foliate and geometric upper border, the body finely engraved with stylized Neoclassical ornament including ribbons, laurel garlands, and rosettes, the base with a beaded edge and molded foot. The angular handle of a faceted section with a pierced thumbrest.

An engraved Cyrillic presentation inscription reads: "Дорогому Мише к 11-ой годовщине свадьбы от жены и детей. 1/VII 30".

(To our dear Misha, on the 11th wedding anniversary, from wife and children. July 1, 1930.) indicating later commemorative use during the early Soviet period.

Hallmarks: on base with maker’s initials "Л.Б." in Cyrillic (unidentified Moscow silversmith, active late 19th–early 20th century) and 84 zolotniks silver standard.
