описание:
White porcelain figure modeled as a standing nude "Venus" in a contrapposto pose, with the head gently inclined and the arms drawn inward in a modest classical gesture. The sculptural treatment is refined and anatomically sensitive, reflecting Paul Scheurich’s signature style. The figure is conceived with elongated proportions, softly modeled contours, and an introspective expression, emphasizing restraint rather than overt movement. The surface is finished in a glossy white glaze with delicate flesh-toned accents to the lips, nipples, fingers, and toes, and subtle darker shading to the hair, which is arranged in long stylized curls flowing down the back. The figure stands against a softly modeled tree-stump support with green-staffed accents, resting on a square base.
The underside bears the underglaze blue crossed swords mark of the Meissen manufactory, together with impressed production numerals. The model was designed by Paul Scheurich around 1920, with production at Meissen beginning circa 1921, and remaining in limited manufacture post 1931. This sculpture relates closely to Scheurich’s contemporary figurative explorations and is documented in the literature as a work unto itself rather than a pair to his earlier figure "Der Hirte".
Lit.: Paul Scheurich, Meissener Manuskripte vol. 8, ill. p. 55.
