описание:

A MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURE "A BLACKAMOOR DANCER WITH A PARROT", MODELED BY PAUL SCHEURICH, GERMANY, FIRST HALF 20TH CENTURY

Porcelain figure modeled as a dynamic standing male figure in exotic costume captured in animated movement, holding a draped cloth raised above the shoulder in a theatrical gesture suggestive of a stage or dance performance. The figure is rendered with pronounced articulation and expressive facial features, wearing a flowing white garment edged with softly shaded blue and ochre tones, the exposed limbs modeled with Scheurich’s characteristic emphasis on musculature and rhythmic form. The sculptural treatment emphasizes motion and balance, the swirling drapery and contrapposto stance reflecting Paul Scheurich’s modernist and Art Deco-inflected approach to figural design. The vivid coloration and glossy glaze enhance the dramatic presence of the figure, which stands on an integral molded base with stylized ground elements. The composition belongs to Scheurich’s exoticist figure series created for the Meissen Manufactory during the 1920s and early 1930s, representing a deliberate break from historicist Rococo idioms in favor of expressive modern porcelain sculpture.

The vesro bears the underglaze blue crossed swords mark of Meissen together with incised and impressed factory model numbers and firing marks.
