AN RUSSIAN IMPERIAL PORCELAIN COMPOTE SET OF TWO - These beautiful centerpieces (tazza) were made by Imperial Factory Kremlin Service in 1897.The pattern designed by Fedor Solntsev in time of Tsar Nicholas I. The center is painted with a black double-headed Imperial Eagle with crown, orb & scepter & surrounded by a gilt band inscribed ‘Nicholas the Emperor & Ruler of all the Russias’. The elaborate border is decorated with blue & green flowers against a burnished gilt ground. Stamped on the bottom in green ink. Ca. 1897. Dimensions: D: 8 5/8 in., (22 cm.) H: 3 5/8 in., (9.3 cm.)
