De Vigny refers to his historical novel Cinq Mars and explains to his correspondent that before publishing he needs to meet Charpentier, stating in part ` Il faut absolument que je vois Mr. Charpentier comme je le lui ai fait dire chez lui… Son absence m´empêche de donner les derniers bons à tirer. J´ai à m´entendre avec lui sur quelques changements…´ (Translation: “ I absolutely have to see Mr. Charpentier as I explained at his home... His absence prevents me from giving the last proofs. I have to agree with him on some changes …”) To a post-scriptum at the conclusion Vigny says ` Je voudrais avoir quelques exemplaires de mes Poèmes sitôt qu´ils seront mis en vente´ (Translation: “ I would like to have some copies of my Poems as soon as they go on sale”) With blank integral leaf. VG Cinq-Mars is a historical novel by Vigny which would be published in 1826. An early work of De Vigny based on Henri Coiffier de Ruzé, Marquis of Cinq-Mars (1620-1642) a favourite of King Louis XIII of France, who led the last and most successful of many conspiracies against Cardinal Richelieu, the King's powerful first minister.
