Simon thanks and responds to his correspondent´s letter and to the four questions about his work he was asked about, stating in part ` 1) Lorsque je commence à écrire, je n´ai pas de plan. Seulement la vague - très vague - idée d´une forme, d´un ”ton”. Plusieurs plans s´élaborent, se détruisent et se remplacent au cours du travail d´écriture. 2) Un personnage de roman est et reste pour moi un inconnu. 3) Maitres en litérature: Conrad, Proust, Joyce, Faulkner. 4) A partir de L´herbe chacun de mes romans répond de façon différente à des problèmes différents.
