Rutherford commences her letter with gratitude, ´How very nice of you to think of me on Thursday with the really lovely chrysanthemums. Thank you so much´ and continues to remark ´We had a very nice first night audience & the play seemed to go well´ , further adding ´You must come & see me soon. Would you like to come to a Wednesday matinee & have a cup of tea with me afterwards? Perhaps next Wednesday?´ . Some very light, extremely minor age wear to the lower edge, VG Lynn Hope was the head costume mistress at the Aldwych Theatre in London and also performed the same duties on the tours of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 1955 onwards. Margaret Rutherford portrayed Lady Wishfort in The Way of the World at the Saville Theatre in 1956.
