JANNINGS EMIL: (1884-1950) Swiss-born German actor, the first Academy Award winner for Best Actor in 1927/28 for his roles as August Schilling in The Way of All Flesh and General Dolgorucki and Grand Duke Sergius Alexander in The Last Command. Vintage signed sepia postcard photograph, the image depicting Jannings standing in a half-length pose, in costume as pioneering microbiologist Robert Koch, at the side of an autopsy table upon which lies a female body, in a scene from the German Nazi propaganda film Robert Koch (1939).
