OLDFIELD BARNEY: (1878-1946) American pioneer racing driver, winner of the inaugural AAA National Championship in 1905. An amusing vintage signed colour postcard, the image depicting an artist´s impression of a vintage open-top motor car being driven in the pouring rain by a chauffeur as it approaches a flood in the road, and with a young couple comforting each other in the back seats of the vehicle, with the printed caption Auto Know Better at the base. Signed ( ´You know me, Barney Oldfield´) by Oldfield in fountain pen ink to a lighter area of the image and dated 21st November 1913 in his hand. With a collector´s ink annotation to the verso. VG
