Letter containing a Halachic Responsum Handwritten by Rabbi Meir Arik Author of "Imrei Yosher" - Krenitz 1924
A letter containing a halachic responsum handwritten and signed by Rabbi Meir Arik Av Beit Din of Tarnów. Matot-Masei, Krenitz, 1924.
The letter was sent to his beloved friend Rabbi Shlomo Bigel Izen in response to his letter about the issue "Ein Ma'avirin al Ha'Mitzvot" and hearing the reading of the Torah.
A leaf written on both its sides. Two handwritten pages.
(The responsum was printed in the religious anthology section 14, "Gnuzot" pp. 8)
Rabbi Meir Arik (1855–1926) was a well-known Galician Torah scholar. Rabbi Arik was so highly respected by the leading Rabbis of his generation, that following the death of Rabbi Schwadron, the Belzer Rebbe directed all halachic questions to Rabbi Arik in his place. He was the Posek of the Galician town Buchach. During World War I, Rabbi Arik fled to the Austrian city of Vienna. Upon his return to Galicia in 1920, rabbi Arik assumed the post of Chief Rabbi of Tarnów. In addition to his insights on various tractates of both the Jerusalem and Babylonian Talmud and his "Imrei Yosher" halachic responsa, he also edited and published a volume titled 'Chidushei Ha'RamaL' (Kolomye 1890).
Many of the geniuses of Poland were his disciples, the most well-known of them being Rabbi Meir Shapira of Lublin and Rabbi Aryeh Zvi Frumer of Kozhiglover, Rabbi Meshulam Roth author of "Kol Mevaser", Rabbi Reuven Margaliyot and Rabbi Yehoshua Ernberg Av beot Din of Tel Aviv.
