Viennese born Isidor Bush (formerly Busch, 1822-98) was editor of the Kalender und Jahrbuch für Israeliten, but following the failed Revolution of 1848, emigrated to the United States. He developed the short-lived ‘Israel’s Herald, ’ the first Jewish weekly in America. Afterwards he removed to St. Louis where he was involved in Jewish communal life. Subsequently he made his fortune with vineyards on land he called Bushberg.
