Historical archive of documents sent by R. Chaim Ozer to R. Yosef Gurewicz of Melbourne, Australia regarding the escape of many Rabbonim and Yeshiva students to Vilna.
After the Soviet invasion of Poland in September 1939, a treaty was signed transferring the city of Vilna to Lithuania. The community of Vilna led by R. Chaim Ozer invested enormous energies and resources to assist the refugees.
Lot includes:

• Telegram sent by R. Chaim Ozer dated Nov 1939, that many Rabbonim and Yeshivos have arrived in Vilna and require assistance.
• Telegram sent by R. Chaim Ozer dated 1940, stating the number of refugee Yeshiva students is 2300 and 100 Rabbonim.
• A list of the Rabbonim that escaped to Vilna. Notable names include The Brisker Rav, The Modzhitzer Rebbe, R. Isser Yehuda Malin, R. Moshe Shatzkes, R. Zalman Sorotzkin and R. Dovid Lipchitz. Seemingly signed (in English) by R. Chizkiyahu Mishkovsky.

  • Handwritten letter on the stationary of "Ichud Rabbonim Golei Polin B'Vilna" describing in detail its founding, activities and importance. Signed by R. Chizkiyahu Yosef Mishkovsky (Rav of Krynki), R. Moshe Leib Luski (Rav of Shvienzien) and R. Nachman Tzvi Gallein (Rav of Sa'al). With an addendum handwritten by R. Chizkiyahu Yosef Mishkovsky.
