Locati LLC is proud to present American Furniture and Silver from the Collection of C Thomas Attix, Jr., who was a lifelong collector of American material culture with a particular fondness of furniture, coin silver, and Oriental rugs. His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

A Group of Three American Folk Art Doll Cradles, Early 19th Century. Comprising a walnut cradle; cherry cradle and red-painted cradle with black and chrome yellow accents.

Dimensions: Height of largest 14 1/2in; width 13 1/4in; length 23 1/4in.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.


Condition:

The red-painted cradle with wear, rubbing, abrasions, scratches and losses to the surface. The headboard and footboard with age cracks and losses. Oxidation to nail heads throughout.


The walnut cradle retaining an old surface, with heavy wear, moisture stains, abrasions and surface scratches throughout. 


The small cherry cradle retaining an old dry surface, marks, wear, abrasions, stains and small losses.
