His collection reflects his interest in the Delaware Valley, with an emphasis on mid 18th through early 19th century silversmiths and figured hardwoods vetted by his discerning eye for form and surface. Among the highlights are a Thomas Stretch Philadelphia clock, a collection of figured maple furniture, and silver by noted makers such as Joseph Richardson Sr. and Richard Humphreys.

A Federal Carved Mahogany Eglomise Pier Mirror, First Quarter 19th Century. The molded cornice above a reverse painted glass tablet centered by an eagle with spread wings drinking from a raised chalice held by a Classical maiden with olive branch,  above a mirror, flanked by engaged clustered colonettes above small plinths with applied roundels and base molding.

Dimensions: Height 34in; width 20in; depth 3 1/2in.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey.


Condition:

Retaining an old surface. General marks, wear, nicks, and surface scratches. Heavy wear and loss and movement to silvering of mirror.
