Coin and Jewelry lots feature Canadian Gold Leaf, American Gold Eagle, Chinese Gold Panda, certified Roman coins, silver and turquoise. Paintings by Eastern European Mid Century artists include Menyhert Toth, Juniusi Aukio, Ferenc Bordas, Tamas Konok, Jozef Brezney, Endre Szasz, Joe Koney, Bela Barsi, Endre Kolozsvary, and M. Chernyaev. Classic 19th Century allegorical portraits include Ceres, Zannoni’s Beatrice Cenci, Dou’s Schoolmaster and a Spanish Cavalier after Diego Velazquez. OVAL 19C PORCELAIN PLAQUE AFTER DOU COUPLE DRINKING AND EATING
19th Century oval porcelain plaque depicting a " Couple drinking and eating by a casement window" this is AFTER a Gerrit Dou painted plaque.
Measures, 10 W x 13 H with frame 14 x 17 IN (25 cm W x 33 cm H with frame 36cm W x 43cm H)
Gerrit Dou (7 April 1613 – 9 February 1675), also known as Gerard Douw or Dow, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, whose small, highly polished paintings are typical of the Leiden fijnschilders. He specialized in genre scenes and is noted for his trompe-l'œil "niche" paintings and candlelit night scenes with strong chiaroscuro. He was a student of Rembrandt.
