Переплет сильно потерт, имеются небольшие пятна от влаги, края и углы сбиты. На свободном листе форзаца следы от детских переводных картинок. Титульный лист проклеен полоской бумаги у основания с оборотной стороны. Пятна ржавчины от скоб у основания страниц. Блок прошит нитками. Страницы загрязнены, встречаются пометы карандашом и мелкие надрывы.
Первое издание. В 1937 году увидел свет «Рассказы в картинках» — сборник увлекательных и смешных рисованных историй, адресованных детям. Часть сюжетов Николай Радлов позаимствовал из книги Б. Рабье «Звери развлекаются», изменив и дополнив. Рисунки сопровождались короткими стихотворными строчками, авторами которых были Д.И. Хармс, Н.В. Гернет и Н.Л. Дилакторская. В 1938 году издание «Рассказов в картинках» на английском языке получило вторую премию на Международном конкурсе детской книги в США. Детский журнал «The Horn Book Magazine» включил «The cautious carp and other fables in pictures» в список лучших книг года.
