Pericles Spiridonovich Xidias (1872-1942) Russian Soviet artist, graphic artist, engraver. He is an engraver of the first Soviet stamps. From 1889 to 1893 he studied at the Academy of Arts, was a student of IP Pozhalostin. In 1906 he received the title of academician. The works of P. Xidias were exhibited at spring exhibitions at the Academy of Arts, where he was a member of the AI Kuindzhi Society. Most of the artist's creative biography is the creation of state banknotes and postage stamps. Xidias worked in the Expedition for the Procurement of State Papers and Goznak, later he was its leader. He engraved images on banknotes and postage stamps, including the first stamps of the RSFSR "Hand with a sword cutting a chain."
