Lot Essay:
Founded in the early 18th century, the Dresden Porcelain Company revolutionized porcelain production with its discovery of hard-paste porcelain. Renowned for intricate hand-painted patterns inspired by baroque and rococo styles, Dresden Porcelain quickly became synonymous with luxury and artistic excellence across Europe. Dresden patterns have been painted and designed by craftsmen like Carl Thieme (German, 19th century) and Ambrosius Lamm (German, 19th century), who each derived inspiration from artworks by Jean-Antoine Watteau (French, 1684-1781). Despite facing historical challenges, the company continues to uphold its legacy of craftsmanship, blending traditional techniques with modern innovation to create timeless pieces cherished worldwide.
