 ZATOPEK EMIL: (1922-2000) Czechoslovak Athlete. Known as the Czech Locomotive, Zatopek won three Olympic gold medals in Helsinki 1952, the last being for the first marathon he ran in his life which he decided to run at the last minute. An attractive original 8 x 8 printed signed programme, being the official XII Athletics European Championship, Prague 1978, 16 pages, in French. Signed `En souvenir, Emil Zatopek´, adding beneath an original amusing drawing of Zatopek running, with his wife following closely behind, holding her javelin, and dated 29^th August 1978 in his hand. Zatopek´s wife, Dana Zatopkova (1922-2020) was a Czech javelin thrower and Olympic gold medal. Small age wear, otherwise about VG
