Long Letter in the Handwriting of Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch, the Student of the Chatam Sofer, to his son-in-law Rabbi Azriel Toiber – 1881 – Rare
Closely-written, long letter with Divrei Torah by Rabbi Abba Chiya Hirsch to his son-in-law Rabbi Azriel Toiber. The complete letter is in his handwriting. His signature appears at the margins of the letter.
Rabbi abba Chiya Hirsch was one the greatest rabbis of his generation. He was the student of the Chatam Sofer. He served as the rabbi of Sarad and correspond with all the greatest students of the Chatam Sofer. Many of his letters were printed in the book 'Kitvei Rabbi Acha'.
Rabbi Abba Chiya was called so as a remedy for his father's illness, Rabbi Zvi Hirsch, who was seriously ill at the time, and indeed lived a long life after the birth of his son.
His son-in-law, Rabbi Azriel Toiber, was a famous Tzadik. He died in 1930. His novellae on the Torah was printed in the book 'Ha'Ateret'. Rabbi Hirsch and his son-in-law had a close relationship with many Talmudic discussions.
4 pages, two of them full of Divrei Torah about a Sugiya from the Nedarim Tractate.
In the third pages he sends many regards. There is also an addition in Yiddish, probably of his wife, to their daughter Rachel, Rabbi Toiber's wife. The last page is empty.
Condition: Very Good. The second page is torn and missing with no damage to the text.
