Letter of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Sander Shapira to His Rabbi, the NATZIV of Volhozin, Rare
Letter of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Kahana Sander Shapira (1851-1923), the rabbi of Krynki in Poland, the student of the Natziv and grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Volhozin. He immigrated to Israel in 1921 and settled in the Sha'arei Chessed neighborhood in Jerusalem. He was known as a Tzadik whose blessings come true. His son was Rabbi Avraham Shapira, Av Beit Din Kovne (Kaunas), the author of 'Devar Avraham', one of the greatest Lithuanian rabbis.
The letter is addressed to his Rabbi, the NATZIV, Rabbi Naftali Yehuda Zvi Berlin, the head of the Volhozin Yeshiva, the author of 'Ha'amek Davar' and 'Ha'amek She'ela'. The letter is a halachic debate concerning the laws of Shechita.
