Important Letter by Rabbi Avraham David Strashon, One of the Leaders of the Jewish Community of Vilnius, to the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant – Vilnius, [1853?]
A letter handwritten and signed by the scribe of the Vilnius community and one of its leaders, Rabbi Avraham David Strashon (1788-1855).
The place where the signature appears is damaged by the ink; however, the content of the letter indicates that he served as a rabbi until then for forty two years. He also presents himself as the "friend" of the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Salant. His curly signature on other well-known letters by him indicates that the curly signature before us is his as well.
The letter refers to conflicts in the Ashkenazic community of Jerusalem.
Fair-good condition. Damages caused by the ink.
