A RUSSIAN WATERCOLOR SKETCH BY M. DOBUZHINSKY
Watercolor and pencil sketch on paper depicting a character for the opera "The Love for Three Oranges". Signed with the initials and dated lower right: "MD 1935". On the back, there is a stamp with the inscription: "Estate Property/Mstislav Valerianovich Dobuzhinsky/Russian-American 1857-1957".Mstislav Valerianovich Dobuzhinsky (1875-1957) - Russian graphic artist, painter. Illustrator, theater artist. Member of the "Mir Iskusstva" association (1902-1924), the Union of Russian Artists (1904-1909). Dobuzhinsky worked in St. Petersburg theaters and in S. Dyagilev's enterprise in Paris (since 1914), taught at the Academy of Arts (1918-1923).
