YSAYE EUGENE: (1858-1931) Belgian Violinist. Known as the King of the Violin. An excellent letter of musical content, A.L.S., E. Ysaye, three pages, 8vo, Brussels, 28th September 1901. Ysaye suggests a number of musical works to perform, stating in part `Please forgive my late response to the letter you address to Mr. Wolff regarding my concert program; I have been ill the last few days and was unable to write..´ Ysaye further lists a number of violin works he suggests as options to perform, saying `I suggest, 1) a Beethoven´s or Mozart´s sonata, to be chosen by the pianist - 2) third concerto (Si min.) of C. S. Saens or the fourth concerto, Re min., of Vieuxtemps, or even the first part of the concerto in Fa of Lalo, and finally the Mendelssohn one. - 3) Aria of Bach - 4) Romance in Sol of Beethoven - 4) Reve d´enfant, E.
