Three Books Printed in Jerusalem
a. The book Drishat Zion for the settlement of the Land of Israel, by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalisher, chief rabbinical judge of Thorn [northern Poland]. Jerusalem 1919. Third edition.
This book is one of the first and most basic books written about the redemption of Israel in the last generations. Rabbi Kalisher believed that the beginning of the redemption depended on actions initiated by people. This book is one of the central milestones in the development of Zionism.
Added to it is the book Rishon Le'Zion, which contains "various debates the author had with the Rabbis of the generation", as well as a booklet 'Har Zvi' about offering sacrifices nowadays by Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank, a chief rabbinical judge in Jerusalem, and the booklet 'Smichat Zkenim' about the question of ordaining rabbis nowadays. These booklets were added only to this edition!
Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kalisher (1795-1875) was one of the most important rabbis of his generation and one of the harbingers of Zionism. Chiefly known for his support of immigration to Israel and renewing its settlement. His ideas served as the basis for the establishment of 'Hibat Zion' movement. As he saw it, settlement in the Land and observing the laws and customs dependent on the Land will be the first stage in the redemption. In his book 'Drishat Zion', he called for Jewish immigration to the Land and the renewal of sacrifices.
The publisher, Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Dzimitrovsky (1880-1966) was a rabbi in Ekron and later, during World War I, a rabbi in the city of Lawrence in the USA. After the war, he returned to the Holy Land and served as the rabbi of the 'Nachalat Shiva' neighborhood in Jerusalem.
The book contains the approbation of the Badatz Rabbis in Jerusalem (April 1919).

Rabbi Aryeh Leibusch Lifshitz, the Rebbe of Epta, was known as a great rabbi in the Torah and Kabbala and a fervent worshiper of G-d. He served as a rabbi in Poland. In 1921, he immigrated to the Holy Land and settled in Jerusalem. Many of the Kabbalists of Jerusalem would visit to ask him to solve difficult matters for them. He had a special connection to the Tomb of Rachel and founded near the grave the 'Ohel Rachel Imenu' Yeshiva.
