The book Sha'ar HaMelech on the Rambam, with "Ta'am HaMelech", together with the glosses of Rabbi Yosef Shaul Nathanson author of the "Shoel U'Meishiv", in two parts.

Many important handwritten glosses. It seems that they are from Rabbi Eliyahu Einsenstadter, the Rabbi of Derecske, one of the great Rabbis of Hungary and the student of the Ktav Sofer.

Inside the volume are remnants of letters (enclosed with this item) which were sent to the great Torah scholar Rabbi Eliyahu E"sh [Eisenstadter], which show that this copy belonged to him. The glosses themselves were written in short, full of genius and knowledge which are suitable for this amazing character.

There is an additional edition of this book, in which the glosses of the author of the Shoel U'Meishiv appear only on the back of the title page of part 3-4. This copy is from the edition in which his glosses also appear on the back of the title page of part 1-2.

Rabbi Eliyahu Eisenstadter, the Rabbi of Derecske for 30 years. He did not leave any writings after him. His words of Torah were preserved in the responsa of his Rabbi the author of the Ktav Sofer (see: Orach Chaim 5, Yoreh Deah 13, 146, Even HaEzer 12, 96). Long eulogies were also printed on him in the books "Tikun Shlomo" and in the book "Likutei Chaver ben Chaim". It is told about his great abstinence that he would fast from Saturday to Saturday (see more in the material enclosed with the item).

Part 1-2 which contains parts one and two of the Rambam.

[1], 51,1, 3-77 pages.

Part 3-4 which contains parts three and four of the Rambam.

57 pages.

On the back of both title pages: "Glosses [by]…Rabbi Shaul Yosef Halevi Nathanson" (the same glosses in both parts).

Condition: Good. Moth damage in the margins, with almost no damage to text. The handwritten glosses are in legible and uniform condition.
