Letter by Rabbi Moshe Meir Chai Elyakim to Av Beit Din of Tétouan Rabbi Yehuda Leon Kalfon - 1926

A letter written on official document paper of the Beit Din of Casablanca, Morocco, in scribal handwriting, with the signature of Rabbi Moshe Meir Chai Elyakim at the end.
The letter was sent to Rabbi Yehuda Leon Kalfon, Av Beit Din of Tetouan, in response to his letter regarding a widow's inheritance.
Rabbi Moshe Meir Chai Elyakim (1872-1948) was born in Tiberas. The son-in-law of Rabbi Rafael Ochana author of "Mareh HaYeladim". Travelled as an emissary of Tiberias to various places, and in 1919 was appointed as a member of the Beit Din of Mogador. In 1921 he returned to Tiberias and was accepted as a member of the Beit Din of Rabbi Eliyahu Yaluz, together with Rabbi Yaakov Chai Zrihan, his childhood friend. In 1923 he travelled as an emissary to Alger and from there was invited to serve as the rabbi of Casablanca, and in 1924 he was officially appointed as the Av Beit Din there. His halachic responsa were printed in the responsa books of the sages of his generation.
