NAPOLEON I: (1769-1821) Emperor of France 1804-14, 1815. N.S., Napoleon, to the left margin of a D.S. by several officers, one page, folio, Camp de Boulogne, 20th July 1804, in French. The partially printed document from the 14th Regiment of Infantry Administration Council at the camp de Boulogne is a letter addressed to the Emperor stating `To His Majesty Napoleon First Emperor of the French´, and states `We have the honour to present to you the losses that our Officers did suffer on 2nd July 1899, at the Ceva affair in the Piedmont´, further saying `The total destitution they lived at that time made them suffer all kind of privation situations since then. We are at today´s date their representatives to you, and therefore kindly ask on their behalf your authorization to receive a compensation, that only the misfortune of your absence has made impossible to sort out earlier attending their needs.´ To the left margin, annotated in the Emperor´s personal secretary Hugues Maret´s hand `Returned to the Minister of War to make a report on the losses had by this regiment. At the Pont de Brique, 25th July 1804´. Signed below by Napoleon with his full name. The document is signed by General Rouelle, Colonel Mazas, Chiefs of Batalions Blanc and Stahl, and few more officers. An excellent document, signed in full by Napoleon. With blank integral leaf. Bearing a contemporary stamp from the personal secretary of the war Minister. Small overall, minor age wearing, with several small tears and creasing to the edges, none affecting the texts or signatures. VG £1000-1500
