MONTESQUIOU-FEZENSAC MARIE JOSEPH: (1855-1921) Comte de Montesquiou-Fézensac. French Aesthete, Poet and art Collector. Also called the ''Dandy Count''. Montesquiou is reputed and famously remembered for having been the inspiration for the Baron de Charlus in Marcel Proust´s A la Recherche du temps Perdu. Count of Montesquiou also won a bronze medal at the 1900 Olympics. Three signed documents, including a very attractively written A.L.S., `Comte Robert de Montesquiou´, two pages, oblong 4to, attractive paper with printed drawing to the upper left corner showing several bats flying, n.p., n.d., 1909, in French. To the front page Montesquiou writes what could be considered a statement about generosity, entitled and underlined Pavillon des Muses (''Muses Pavilion''), stating `Qu´aurait-dit le graphologue de ces belles oriflammes qui accompagnent vos paroles écrites? Peut-etre qu´elles signifient expansion, main ouverte, moins pour prendre que pour tendre, en un mot Générosité.´ (''What would the graphologist have said of these beautiful bright ideals which accompany your written words? Maybe they mean expansion, open hand, less to take than to extend hand, in a word Generosity'') To the second page Montesquiou continues with his message full of symbolism and literary expressions. Together with an A.N. to both sides of his personal printed visiting-card, Le Comte Robert de Montesquiou Fezensac, Bois de Boulogne, being a kind, clean and attractively written message; also including an A.N.S., one page, 8vo, dated March 1889.
